More Lambs than Lions

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
~Charles Dickens

March has been kind. More lambs than lions.

Red and Aqua

I love the combination of aqua blue and red! The fiery warm color with a breathtaking cool one. I managed to put together a scrapbook page with that color combo:

It has been a quiet month, but thats ok, quiet moments fill my scrapbook just as much as big moments. I am slightly annoyed the LOVE BUG plate came out almost white, when in reality it should be more blue:

(We made cookies for Valentine's day. That is a whole other scrapbook page! My hyped-up-on-frosting three year old landed in time out more than once after making cookies).

The left side of my album came together because I could not fit all the black and white pics on previous pages. Too many photos is my number one scrapbooking problem. I decided to make a "LOVE" page:

I had to cut up the picture of my brother playing ball with B to fit it in.

I just could not leave it out.

I found cute cork board hearts on clearance at A. C. Moore and added some embellishments to both pages, something I have not tried before.

I love color, but I am thinking of trying some clean black, white and grey layouts in the near future! I hope your February has been quiet and enjoyable too!

*update on last post: we received a night full of ice, making travel treacherous. It did snow for all of 4 minutes though, before changing to ice, so I was happy!

Just Yellow and Blue

Just yellow and blue, right? Not really. Who gets to name all these shades of colors? And I can't tell if this makes my blog really boring or fun. I am doing it mostly to show off my love of colors and color themes, in case I want to go in a new direction later instead of teaching.

So, my blog is becoming my portfolio. And I need something to pass my time.

Especially when I am feeling good and less pain.

Anyway, back to yellow. There is fun yellow, friendly, decisive, cheerful, and optimistic yellow. A lot of shades are named after flowers, fruit and wildlife: goldenrod, butter fields, daffodil, sunflower, brittle bush, banana cream, bee, and goldfinch. And there are times of the day and year: morning yellow is not the same as afternoon yellow, and morning sun is not the same as full moon. And my favorite: June day.

Then there is blue. Of course, when you think of blue, you think sea and sky: ocean air, downpour, aquarium, deep ocean, freshwater, harbor fog, ocean breeze, sea foam, brine, ice mist, cumulous cotton, Caribbean mist, bubbles, blue Nile, tidal wave, sailor's sea, bath water.

Of course, there are few other blue things: jeans, blueberries, hydrangeas, sapphires, blue jay, little boy, and electric blue.

Here are my 2nd half of January pages, themed in blue and yellow:

Mostly the pictures are surrounded around out of town visitors. I made no mention of my hospital stay.

The heart picture above, and the pictures below of B and friend at a park were from my first big outdoor excursion at a nearby trail. B kept asking why there was no slide or playground, but he got into the "hike" fast. I felt great that day.

10 Random Things

1. I have not blogged in nearly 2 months.

2. I have not blogged because like so many others, I have discovered Instagram.

3. My Instagram is a lovely mix of my son, nature and my teaching career. And maybe a drawing or 2.

4. I wish my blog could be a lovely mix of my son, nature and my teaching career, and a drawing or 2, but is there ever enough time for all that?

5. Actually, my pictures of my teaching career usually involve some kind of countdown. A countdown to spring break, and now to the end of the year.

6. I know Mary,  I said countdown are bad, but so is the year I am having!

7. My pictures of my teaching career are also a showcase of what I do for my Friday afternoon art club. I LOVE the Friday afternoon art club!

8. I also loved my spring break, although it was chilly. My mom came and we enjoyed a week of grandson/granny time.

9. Only 31 school days until summer.

10. I am hoping to blog more because I want to challenge myself to do 100 days of art, and post here. We'll see how I do! I will start in about 2 weeks, so tune in.

And some pics (sorry no art club pics):
